Founded in 2021, Properties by MFrancisca was born from our passion for the countryside, architecture, and the art of transforming homes into welcoming spaces. As a family-run company, we create properties inspired by Portugal’s natural beauty, heritage, and way of life.
“Country & Woods” became the essence of our journey — a reflection of Maria Francisca’s upbringing surrounded by nature, peaceful countryside, warm fireplaces, and the simple beauty of rural living.
Our first rural tourism project in Azeitão began in 2021, was carefully restored throughout 2022, and completed in 2023, becoming the first expression of our vision.
Today, we continue to restore and develop distinctive homes where authenticity, comfort, nature, and thoughtful design come together, creating places to slow down, reconnect, and experience Portugal in a truly special way.

About our Founder
Francisca de Albuquerque
I’m Francisca, an accountant by profession and the founder of Properties by MFrancisca, with a background in accounting and management and a deep appreciation for property, interiors and the art of creating a beautiful home.
Accounting has been the foundation of my professional career, shaping me with a strong sense of responsibility, organisation, precision and attention to detail. It has given me a solid understanding of business and the importance of building something with purpose, consistency and a strong foundation.
From an early age, I have also had an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to create something of my own — a name and a brand with its own identity, vision and values. Properties by MFrancisca is the expression of that ambition, bringing together my professional experience with my personal appreciation for property, interiors and a considered way of living.
​I have always felt a particular affinity with the countryside — its quiet grandeur, timeless landscapes and understated elegance. I am naturally drawn to traditional country homes, historic estates, aged stone, natural materials and places where the beauty of the surroundings feels untouched by time.

The equestrian world is another subtle influence on my taste, particularly its sense of heritage, refinement and connection to the countryside. I admire the traditions, craftsmanship and quiet elegance associated with country life, from the character of old stables to the simple beauty of life surrounded by open landscapes and nature.

Autumn and winter have always held a special charm for me — colder days, warm interiors, candlelight, timeless fabrics and the comforting feeling of retreating into a home filled with warmth and character. There is something about these seasons that perfectly reflects the atmosphere I am naturally drawn to: intimate, understated and timeless.
I have always been drawn to fashion with an air of elegance and quiet sophistication — refined silhouettes, beautiful fabrics and considered details that feel timeless without ever feeling conventional. I admire the richness of heritage-inspired fashion, where a sense of history meets contemporary femininity, and I simply cannot hide my love for a touch of Spanish flair — that effortless elegance, warmth and unmistakable charm that always finds its way into my taste.

For me, a home should feel personal. It should have character, tell a story and create an atmosphere that stays with you. I believe the most beautiful spaces are not necessarily the most perfect, but those that feel authentic, considered and truly lived in.
